The Photo What a long day. Coming to a stop on the trail, Morgan snapped a few more pictures with her camera, testing the brightness levels of her photo settings. The mid-afternoon light was being blocked by the trees that lined the path of the forest, so figuring out a solution to the undesirable lighting was in her best interest. When some of her subjects, finicky squirrels, kept moving, she also had to turn up her shutter speed. “C’mon, little fella,” she whispered to one. Snapping a few more pictures, she began to adjust her angle. “Hold still.” Her soft voice was not the least bit disturbing to the squirrel; on the other hand, the squirrel ended up being startled by a deep, loud roar that emanated from the tree line. The area’s fauna scattered with squirrels quickly darting up trees, and birds soared off into the sky. Another roar echoed.
